Friday 21 July 2017

I hope you and your family enjoy a good summer break. Thank you for the support you have given Millthorpe School over this last academic year. While my role will be changing as we welcome York High into the Trust, I will still be a presence around Millthorpe next year and together with Gemma Greenhalgh, our new Head of School, we will work as hard as we can to Make Millthorpe a truly great place to learn and work.

Autumn Term 2017

Parents’ Evening Survey
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who completed our recent parents’ evening survey. It is always extremely useful to get feedback from parents and carers and the results from this survey will help us improve the way we run parents’ evenings in the future. For a summary of the results please click here.

End of Year Reports
End of year school reports for Years 7, 8 and 9 have been handed out this week and Year 10 reports were posted home yesterday. If you have not/do not receive your child’s report, or there is a problem with their report, please email Miss Buglass, Data Manager, on

Year 7 and Year 8 Exams Survey
Thank you to the Year 7 and 8 parents and carers who have responded to the exam survey we sent out on Wednesday. The feedback so far has been very constructive and will help with our planning for next year’s exams. We will be analysing the results next week so there is still time to respond to the survey by clicking the following link:

Parent Governor Vacancies
This is a reminder that we have two vacancies for parent governors on Millthorpe’s Governing Board. The election will take place on Friday 15 September 2017 and a parent or carer can propose a candidate, stand for election and vote in the election, if he or she has a child registered at the school on the date of the election. If you are interested in standing or would like to nominate somebody, please click here for the parent governor nomination form. For more information on school governance please visit the National Governance Association website and the Governing Body page on the school website.

It’s a Knock Out event in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice
St Leonard’s Hospice are organising a fun-filled fundraising event on Sunday 3 September at 10.30am on the Knavesmire based on the classic slapstick gameshow. As well as the main tournament, there will be a funfair, inflatables, games and food stalls. Several brave (foolhardy?) Millthorpe staff have entered a team and we’d be extremely grateful for your support. You can:

– Sponsor the Millthorpe team by making a donation via ParentPay

– Come along on the day to cheer us on/laugh at us

All money raised goes towards helping St Leonard’s provide free care to people with life limiting illnesses and their families. You can find out more about the event by visiting
