Attendance
Regular attendance is extremely important and any absence,
even of half a day, must be covered by a note from the parents
and brought by the pupil on the day he/she returns to school.
A telephone call informing the school of any absence would
be appreciated but, if the absence is to be longer than three
days, a telephone contact becomes essential (in addition
to the note on return).
Family Holidays
The granting of permission for absence of pupils to accompany
parents on holiday is at the discretion of the Head. It must
be stressed that the effects of holidays on children’s
progress is significant - and therefore is not lightly given.
In particular the demands of coursework and continuous assessment
for GCSE examinations make holidays during term time for
Year 10 and Year 11 pupils very undesirable. If parents do
wish to make a request a Holiday Form should be obtained
from the school office and returned well before the proposed
date of absence.
Dental appointments etc.
Pupils needing to attend a clinic, doctor, dentist etc.
in school time should bring the appointment card or a note
from their parents to their Form Teacher before the appointment
and sign the Signing Out Book before they leave school. |
