Millthorpe has a designated catchment area and children living within this area are given priority in admissions and are usually allocated a place at the school, subject to the admission limit. Children from outside this area may apply to the Local Authority for a place at the school and the request will be granted if there is space. Full details of how we manage our admissions, including how we allocate places if we are oversubscribed, can be found in our Admissions Policy:

Admissions Policy 2020-21

If, after receiving details of the school at which your child has been allocated a place, you wish to enquire about alternative places or appeal against a decision, you should contact School Services no later than seven working days after receiving the allocation letter.

All applications for a school place are coordinated by the Local Authority. You should apply to the Local Authority, either by submitting a paper form or online, where this is available.

Consultation on the admissions policy for September 2021

Between 7 October and 29 November 2019, all admissions authorities for schools in York are conducting a joint consultation on admission arrangements for the admissions rounds for entry in September 2021. Please write to or email the Trust with any comments on our proposals, or you can contact the Admissions Team at City of York Council.

Following the closing date on 30 November, the  Trust will formally set (‘determine’) the admission arrangements by 28 February 2020.
