Millthorpe has a designated catchment area and children living within this area are given priority in admissions and are usually allocated a place at the school, subject to the admission limit. Children from outside this area may apply to the Local Authority for a place at the school and the request will be granted if there is space. Please note that, for the September 2018 intake, we have increased our pupil admission number to 212 to reflect the rising demand for places at the school. If, after receiving details of the school at which your child has been allocated a place, you wish to enquire about alternative places or appeal against a decision, you should contact School Services no later than seven working days after receiving the allocation letter.

All applications for a school place are coordinated by the Local Authority. You should apply to the Local Authority, either by submitting a paper form or online, where this is available.

Consultation on the admissions policy for September 2020

Between 08 October and 07 December 2018, all admissions authorities for schools in York jointly conducted a consultation on admission arrangements for the admissions rounds for entry in September 2020.

The closing date for comments was 07 December 2018. After considering any comments received, the MAT Board has, in its role as an admissions authority, now formally set (‘determined’) these arrangements on 5 February 2019.
