Year 7 Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) Focus
Government changes to the exam system and qualifications mean that there is now a growing focus on students being able to demonstrate a good knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG), which typically accounts for 5% of marks in public examinations. In order to support our students in improving their spelling and maintaining high levels of grammar and punctuation across all areas of the curriculum, students starting at Millthorpe have a fortnightly SPaG focus.
Each fortnightly SPaG focus will be taught in English lessons and tutor time and will also be addressed in all other subjects across the curriculum. We have provided all students with a purple SPaG handbook. If your child loses their copy they will need to pay £2 for a replacement.
