Successful £1.25m Funding Bid for New Classrooms

We have had confirmation this week that a £1.25m bid to replace three ageing stand-alone classrooms on the site with a new classroom block has been successful. The project also includes the creation of two new, fully equipped Science labs within the existing Science block, along with a new Science classroom and prep room.

Any students who have ever been taught in the ‘temporary’ classrooms will no doubt testify that they have reached the end of their useful life, if not a little beyond it. By contrast, all the new rooms will provide a high-quality, modern learning environment for students and the new block will even be carbon neutral, generating all of its own power using solar panels.

This is the fourth successful bid that Millthorpe has made to the Condition Improvement Fund, which allows academies to bid for money to make much-needed improvements to school buildings, and brings the total investment from this source to over £4m in 3 years.
