WEEKLY EMAIL Friday 29 March

E-Safety Instagram add-on ‘Tell on her’

Following on from our email last week about monitoring mobile phone and social media use, a number of parents and carers have contacted us to express concern about an addition to Instagram called “Tell on her.” This additional piece of software needs to be voluntarily installed or added to a person’s Instagram account but can then be viewed by everyone on their friends list. “Tell on her” is an anonymous platform meaning that anyone can write anything that they want. Sadly, this has been used to send upsetting or hurtful messages and parents/carers and the school are unable to intervene and identify the sender.

Please can you check whether your child has added this software to their Instagram account and if they have, could we strongly recommend that it is deleted?

Additionally, a helpful article about managing or monitoring your child’s Instagram account can be found on the link below.

Careers Fair Monday 1 April

For the first time this year, we will be holding a careers fair for all year groups, 7 to 11, to help students get a better understanding of potential pathways beyond Millthorpe. Each student will have half an hour to visit the fair and get the opportunity to speak to a variety of people involved in different occupations, as well as representatives from both further and higher education establishments.

Year 11 GCSE Exam

Congratulations to all the Y11 GCSE students who completed their 10 hour Art exam this week! Thank you to parents for their support in the run up to the exams and for ensuring students were fully equipped and punctual. The remaining 60% of the final GCSE assessment is for the coursework which must be handed in by 1.00 pm on Wednesday 8 May. Next week, students will be given a coursework checklist to support the completion of coursework (available on Class charts & the Art Department section of the homepage by next Friday).

Summer PE Kit

As we approach the Summer Term, can i remind all students that Games kits will not be needed after Easter, only PE kit.
