Uniform Reminders to Students

Thank you for your ongoing support by ensuring that your child attends school in full uniform. The overwhelming majority of our students continue to comply with expectations and attend school looking very smart every day. We have today reminded students of expectations and clarified the following points:

> Blazers should be worn at all times. This includes lesson change over and when going for break/lunch.

> Ties need to be roughly to the waist.

> Skirts should not be rolled up at the top to shorten the length. Skirts should be roughly to the knee.

> All trousers/skirts need to be the Millthorpe School trouser/skirt from Keal Teamwear.

We have also reminded students that between 8.45am and 3.10pm, coats should not be worn inside the school building and mobile phones should not be used anywhere on the school site during this time.

Form Tutors will be carrying out a uniform check during registration on Monday morning and staff will be enforcing the “No coats, no phones” expectation between 8.45am and 3.10pm.

Spare Uniform

If you have any uniform that is no longer needed and in reasonable condition, we are always very grateful to receive it, in particular blazers and ties. Just bring any spare items to the school office.

Junior Band

Junior band (Years 7-9) is going to move from Wednesday Lunch times to Wednesday after school 3.20pm – 4pm. This is so that those pupils that are in other clubs during lunch time get the opportunity to join a music ensemble and it gives us more time to set up the room and rehearse. If your son/daughter plays a brass, woodwind or string instrument or keyboard then please persuade them to try out Junior Band if they haven’t done so already. We are working towards a concert on Tuesday 19 February so it would be great if your child could be in the concert to get the full Millthorpe musician experience and also participate in our annual rewards trip to the theatre.

Carlton Lodge

Just a gentle reminder about payments please: if you do not have the schedule please do let me know and I can resend; and if you have any problems with this please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be meeting with the students within the next couple of weeks with kit lists etc, so hopefully that should give you the chance to sort anything out. Finally, if your child would like to go to Carlton Lodge but didn’t sign up, it is still not too late. I will hold a meeting for any students who do want to go but haven’t signed up next week to hand out consent / medical forms etc. This will be on Thursday after school and I will put details on the student bulletin.
