Millthorpe receives national award for careers provision
Millthorpe is the first school in York to achieve the national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance. This is a prestigious national award which we are extremely proud to have achieved and is a reflection of our commitment to providing quality careers education for all of our students. Look out for the summer edition of the Millthorpian for more information.

End of Term Arrangements
On Friday 21 July, the last day of the academic year, school will close for students at 12.20pm following a final assembly. Students in receipt of free school meals will be able to collect a packed lunch from our dining hall at 12.20pm; please email the school office on admin@millthorpeschool.co.uk to order a packed lunch for your child. We will be sending you information next week regarding arrangements for the start of the new school year in September.

We have been advised by City of York Council that Nunthorpe Avenue, the road leading to the main entrance to the school, we be closed to vehicles for re-surfacing works between 9.00am and 3.00pm on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 July. We have been advised that pedestrian access will not be affected. Parent Governor Vacancies
This is a reminder that we have two vacancies for parent governors on Millthorpe’s Governing Board. The election will take place on Friday 15 September 2017 and a parent or carer can propose a candidate, stand for election and vote in the election, if he or she has a child registered at the school on the date of the election. If you are interested in standing or would like to nominate somebody, please click here for the parent governor nomination form. For more information on school governance please visit the National Governance Association website and the Governing Body page on the school website.

It’s a Knock Out event in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice
St Leonard’s Hospice are organising a fun-filled fundraising event on Sunday 3 September at 10.30am on the Knavesmire based on the classic slapstick gameshow. As well as the main tournament, there will be a funfair, inflatables, games and food stalls. Several brave (foolhardy?) Millthorpe Staff have entered a team and we’d be extremely grateful for your support. You can:

– Sponsor the Millthorpe team by making a donation via ParentPay

– Come along on the day to cheer us on/laugh at us

All money raised goes towards helping St Leonard’s provide free care to people with life limiting illnesses and their families. You can find out more about the event by visiting www.stleonardshospice.org.uk/Help/Events/Its-a-Knockout.
