Red Nose Day Friday 24 March 2017
Red Nose Day is taking place next Friday and, to support the valuable work that Comic Relief does in the UK and across Africa, school will be holding a non-uniform day. Students should bring £1 to wear appropriate non-uniform. There will also be a bake sale and donations of cakes and biscuits would be very gratefully received. Cakes should be taken to E1 during registration on Friday morning and will be available to buy for 50p to £1 at lunchtime in the Main Hall.
Year 11 GCSE Art Exams
The Art Department very much value the support of parents and carers to ensure that the GCSE Art exams run smoothly next week.
Students should be in their normal art room by 8.30am at the latest (exams start at 8.45am prompt). Students to register in the exam NOT with form tutors. ALL PREPARATION work must be brought to the exam including the practice piece. If for any reason your child is not able to attend their GCSE Art exam, parents or carers must phone the school office on 01904 686400 by 8.30am on the morning of the exam.
Students will continue to practise and develop their presentation work throughout the exam fortnight. (Detailed information about the preparation work and the exams is available on Show My Homework and the school website). All students must hand in their presented preparation work at the end of their five hour exam.
York College Aiming High Event Tuesday 4 April 2017
York College is holding a raising aspirations event for students in Years 10 and 11 who are thinking about applying to Oxford, Cambridge or higher education courses at other universities that demand high grades and further qualifications, such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and law. There will be an overview of how York College supports the most able students, as well as time for questions from students and parents about the university application process. The event is taking place at York College on Tuesday 4 April; students and parents should arrive at the main reception from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.
