Key Stage 3

In Personal Development students follow a statutory course of Citizenship, covering areas such as local democracy, why women got the vote and crime. Students are also taught components of a PSE course which includes units on Relationships, Bullying, Peer Pressure and Money Management. In Year 9 students will begin to complete units which will contribute th their BTEC Workskills.

 

Key Stage 4

As part of the Personal Development Programme, students in Years 10 and 11 will be completing a BTEC level 2 in Workskills.

Units which will be covered are:

Year 10

  • Searching for a job (1)
  • Applying for a job (1)
  • Building relationships with employers (2)
  • Preparing for interview (1)
  • Rights and Responsibilities in the workplace (1)
  • Preparing for work placement (1)
  • Working in a team (3)

Year 11

  • Learning from work placement (2)
  • Building Relationships with customers (2)
  • Summarising documents (1)

All work will be completed in school throughout the year in students Personal Development lessons and through form time. The units are interspersed throughout the year with components of Citizenship and PSE. Each form will complete their units at different times of the academic year in both Year 10 and 11.

In order to achieve the level 2 BTEC Workskills, which is the equivalent to a grade B at GCSE, students will need to complete at least 13 credits. The credits for each unit is in brackets after the unit title.
