Millthorpe achieved International School status in 2007. The purpose of the International School award is to give us the means to enable students to engage with the global dimension as part of their time at Millthorpe. Through International activities we can raise their awareness of a rapidly shrinking world through work on community cohesion, minority ethnic groups in York and less familiar countries.
Our International School award means that the work we do on the International Dimension can be recognised. It is a truly collaborative effort because without staff leading trips to foreign countries, setting up pen pal opportunities with link schools or running workshops on enrichment days, we would have no award.
The International School award is an outward sign that as a school we celebrate the heritage of York and respect and value different cultures and beliefs through the everyday life of the school.
